As the nation's largest publisher of mortgage information, HSH Associates has compiled mortgage rate statistics for over 25 years.

Here we present over two decades of HSH's Fixed-Rate Mortgage Indicator (FRMI). The FRMI -- the longest series of street-level pricing available -- captures mortgages of all sizes, including conforming, the new "expanded conforming," and jumbo. The FRMI has been published as a continuous series since the early 1980s. Separate statistical series for conforming and jumbo loans have long been available to HSH clients.

If you need conforming mortgage statistics or jumbo mortgage statistics, please click here for more information. Our line of consumer loan statistics includes:

  • Hybrid ARM statistics, conforming (more info)
  • Hybrid ARM statistics, jumbo
  • FRM first-mortgage statistics, conforming
  • FRM first-mortgage statistics, jumbo
  • new! Agency jumbo (also known as expanded conforming and jumbo conforming) statistics
  • Home Equity Line-of-credit statistics (fully indexed)
  • Home Equity Loan (single disbursement) statistics
  • New Auto Loan statistics
  • Used Auto Loan statistics

If you'd like to know more, just ask what we have available. We offer statistics that simply are no available elsewhere, such as our hybrid ARM stats.

Unlike other sources, these statistics derive from our objective, editorial survey of between 2,000 and 3,000 lenders in all 50 states and elsewhere. We've been doing this for 20 years -- we know what we're doing, and we just keep doing it, every week. Would you like to know more?

HSH's statistics have long been used by top Wall Street firms; by lenders coast to coast; by the media; by government agencies; by Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae; and many others.

HSH compiles statistics on a wide variety of mortgage products. The 30-year Fixed Rate Mortgage, the 15-year Fixed Rate Mortgage, and the 1-Year Adjustable Rate Mortgage are the most popular, but that's not all we survey. Click here to see what we offer.

About our Statistics:

  1. The statistical mortgage rate histories listed here are derived from HSH's database of 2,000 to 3,000 lenders -- the largest database available from any source.
  2. HSH statistics come from the objective, editorial survey we've conducted for 20 years. Lenders do not pay to be included in our surveys -- never have, and never will.
  3. The free statistics we offer include both conforming and jumbo loans; this gives an accurate view of the nation's overall mortgage market (particularly in high-cost areas). We also offer jumbo-only and conforming-only statistics -- ask for a price quote.
  4. 'Points' are not included in these free averages -- they are calculated separately, but not listed here (i.e., do not assume these stats represent "zero-point" loans). Other statistical series do list average points; please ask us for a price quote.
  5. Read our Frequently Asked Questions about our statistics, too.

HSH calculates a wide variety of mortgage statistics which list both average rate and average points, including:

  • statistics for other loan types
  • statistics by metropolitan area
  • statistics by loan size -- i.e. conforming -vs- jumbo loans
  • statistics by type of lender (thrifts -vs- mortgage banker -vs- bank)

And by still other criteria. Statistical series can be combined, too -- i.e., for average jumbo loans in specific metro areas.
